It's July and the numbers for June are coming in. As expected, along with the launch of the 320i model, a new entry-level car from BMW, the brand's sales soared through the roof, reaching all-time highs.
That's great news for us and bad news for the Stuttgard-based competition, Mercedes-Benz. Even though they too registered an increase in sales (a total of 7,639 C-Class cars were sold in June) they were still trailing behind the 3er.
BMW managed to sell no less than 10,957 3 Series models in June alone, surpassing MB's sales by 3,318. Of course, a great part in this whole ordeal was the $32,550 price tag of the 320i.
According to Kelley Blue Brook analyst, Alec Gutierrez, this raise in sales is completely justifiable by the broader line-ups of the manufacturers and more affordable prices.
"The available lease offers on 3 Series has been a pretty significant driver, too. We’ve seen promotions from the low- to mid-$300s a month. Even the 335 can be had for $400 a month. That’s a lot of car for $400 a month,” said Gutierrez in an interview for Bloomberg.
