Furthermore, on a global scale, the June sales reached another all-time high, increasing by 6.9 percent over 2012, reaching 184,489 units. The Board of Management expects yet further increases, despite the situation in Europe.

"The BMW Group achieved its best ever sales figures in the first half of this year and last month, despite the prevailing headwinds in some European markets. We aim to continue our sales growth in the second half of the year with new models such as the BMW 5 Series, which is launched this month and the third generation of the highly successful BMW X5 which arrives later in the year," said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management, Sales and Marketing for BMW.

As far as BMW brand sales go, the sales grew by 9.4 percent, to 153,075 units compared to last year's 139,879. Year-to-date, a number of 804,248 BMW brand vehicles were delivered worldwide, an increase of 7.7 percent over the 747,089 units sold in the same period of last year.

The 3 Series was the best seller, being accountable for more than 25% of the total sales, adding up to 236,215 units sold (an increase of 21.8 percent), whilst the 5 Series placed second with 169,593 units sold in the first 6 months of the year.
