Don’t worry, when we said regular review we didn’t mean that guy on Youtube that does ‘Regular Car Reviews’ and occasionally swears in his videos because he’s disappointed by the automobiles he’s driving. No, we meant it in a different way.
You see, since the i8 is a rather special car, the journalists also tend to give it ‘special’ reviews. That means you’ll see them mostly on the track or in some out of this world décor but never on a public road or in a simple town, the urban areas where this car will be mostly driven. Matt Watson did that and we respect him for it.
In his typical fashion, he took the i8 for a test where he takes all of the cars we see him driving on Youtube, just for comparison’s sake. Needless to say that he liked a couple of things but hated others.
Things he liked included the U-shaped taillights that help reduce the drag coefficient, and the doors, as well as the fact that the body exposes its carbon fiber construction. Other pluses include the quality of the materials and the finish in the cabin as well as the grants the governments are offering for this car due to its hybrid powertrain.
On the other hand, he also disliked a few things that include, curiously, the doors once again. You see, they look cool but according to Matt you can get in a bit of trouble when parking in a tight parking lot. We get what he was implying but the thing is, conventional doors also get in the way if you park too close to another car. We won’t say anything more, just check out his take on the car as it is pretty honest (except the one with the doors).
