Despite negative rumors surrounding BMW’s ‘i’ program earlier this month, they seem to have been cleared up and the ‘Born Electric Tour’ which showcases the German manufacturer’s two green offerings (currently only as concepts), the i3 city car and the i8 sports car (also available as a roadster), has commenced in Rome.
The Palazzo delle Esposizioni, a grand building located in the heart of the Italian capital was host to the event. The main focus of the Rome presentation were not the cars themselves, although they did attract attention, but the networking information, technologies and transportation systems. The event also marked the initiation of collaborations with the Italian designer and architect Fabio Novembre, in order to create his interpretation of the city with an ‘ECO’ twist.

Novembre is one of the seven world-famous artists to be chosen to conjure up their visions of each of the seven cities the tour will visit. Next stop is Dusseldorf, followed by Tokyo, New York, London, Paris and (of course there was going to be at least one Chinese city) Shanghai.
