At the moment, the 1 Series and the recently launched 4 Series are the only BMW models missing from the Indian market (excluding the M models). However, things are about to change.
According to indiancarsbikes.in the 4 Series is about to remain the only model that's not sold in India because the 1 Series is about to enter the Asian country's market. They claim that BMW recently started a marketing campaign with the Dynamic 1 moniker.

The 1 Series is supposed to pick up the fight with Mercedes-Benz and its A-Class that is currently undisputed in the hatchback segment. Of course, the 1er will be sold in India through the CKD method (completely knocked-down kit) that requires the car to be assembled locally.

Using the CKD means of production, the F20 will become BMW's cheapest car in India, even cheaper than the most popular X1, and is expected to contribute to massive profit gains in a segment where BMW, Mercedes and Audi are due to have a fierce battle.

The indian website claims that this launch will take place in August, thanks to inside information from BMW dealers in Maharashtra. If this will prove to be true, the A3 and A-Class will have a proper competitor that might even turn out to be cheaper.
