After we showed you how to install a dashboard mount for your phone, it's time to show you how to connect it to your car's iDrive system in a simple and comfortable manner.
So, if you did the previous DIY, you probably noticed you'll need to route an USB cable from the armrest to the dashboard. However, there are 2 ways of doing this. The first one is obvious, just plug the cable into your phone and the armrest but that is solution will definitely look good and you might get entangled in the wire after a while.
The second solution, is the one we're showing you today. You can route the cable from the arm rest to the dash through the center console. Don't worry, it's easier than you thought.
All you'll need is to have already installed the dashboard mount, an iPhone Y Cable (in case you own an iPhone, code number 61120440812), dock extender extension cable (it looks like this), philips screwdriver, file (for the USB cable, not the car) and a picture frame wire (it has to be fairly strong and long).
The whole ordeal is easier than you might think and it will only take a couple of minutes, at the end of which you'll be able to use your phone easily and comfortably without having to use that pesky armrest dock.
