Right around the same time as the 3 Series GT configurator went live on BMWUSA.com, another interesting car was introduced on the website, to be customized the way you like: the LCI 5 Series, in diesel guise.
The new diesel (for the US market) is dubbed 535d and has a 3-liter 6-cylinder engine under the bonnet that produces 258 HP and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque. In Europe, the same car would be named 530d and, as in the US, would come fitted only with the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The starting price for the only diesel 5er available in the US is $57,525 (with destination and handling) and you can also get the xDrive all-wheel-drive system for you Bimmer for an extra $2,300.
For a quick look at how the 535d handles itself on the road, check out the test-drive we told you about a while back. After that, head on to the BMWUSA.com website and configure your own.
