The publisher of World of Speed, Slightly Mad Studios, just confirmed that another legendary car will be joining the game’s line-up when it launches, the BMW E92 M3. Being the last naturally aspirated Bimmer the Bavarians ever made and working a deafening 4-liter V8 under the bonnet, we’re rather enthusiastic to see how all of this pans out.
We’ve seen the E92 M3 in other games before. The car was available for free in the Need for Speed: Rivals title, to mention the most recent but other games introduced it as well including Gran Turismo, for example.

The first preview of the M car in World of Speed is rather disappointing though. It’s not the fault of the car or the graphics but rather the error the producers made when they listed the only performance number they thought it would be fit: the acceleration time to 100 km/h (62 mph).

According to them it’s 3.9 seconds but as a true aficionado knows, that time is extremely optimistic. BMW claims 4.6 seconds for the 7-speed DCT LCI model and 4.4 for the GTS version but 3.9 is way off. Sure, that’s a detail that probably won’t stop people from playing or ordering this game but we just couldn’t get past it.

What’s World of Speed?

Taking a look at how World of Speed is being developed right now, we can tell you that it could be the next best thing. Unlike other, more popular titles on the market, this multiplayer online action racing game is free to play. Basically, all you’ll have to do is sign up and you’ll be able to enter its universe and the sign-up is open right now.

Don’t think that it’s going to suck either. Sure, the graphics might not be top notch but the gameplay will make sure you don’t care. You can customize your car, join Clubs and participate in enthusiast events. All in the virtual world of course.

The cars you get to play with are also top notch, including names like Alfa Romeo 8C, Camaro SS, SLS AMG, McLaren 12C and the aforementioned M3, of course.
