The July numbers definitely looked good for BMW. Registering a total brand sales growth of 13 percent, reaching 24,043 units sold, the Bavarian manufacturer closed in on the current luxury segment leader, Mercedes-Benz.
Year-to-date, Mercedes sales grew by 12 percent to 165,598 whilst BMW's sales grew by 11 percent to 164,474. That means that at the moment, only 1,124 vehicles stand between the two German giants.
The other competitors in this segment are a bit behind, with Lexus on third place, selling 141,446 vehicles so far, Cadillac on 4th place with 99,331 and Audi on 5th with 87,341 units.
With the launch of the new 4 Series, X5 and i3, things are bound to look even better for BMW for the rest of the year, sales being expected to grow even further.
