Just before the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class reaches the Australian market, BMW announced that it will be selling a special 3 Series model decked with extra standard kit. Could it be a coincidence? Highly unlikely. We’re thinking this is a move done by the Bavarians to stay competitive.
It’s no secret that the baby S-Class is a brilliant car. It comes with some of the best tech Mercedes has to offer today and has a fresh look that is simply beautiful to stare at. Both inside and out. That means only trouble for the still reigning kind of the segment, the 3 Series.

To make matters better, BMW announced that the High-Line Special Edition models have just arrived in Australia, offering ‘unrivaled standard specifications’ across the range. These cars will be offering any line you want (Sport, Modern or Luxury) as well as the Innovations Package that includes all the latest tech BMW has to offer on the 3 Series.

That means you get the head-up display system, the surround-view camera system, the Parking Assistant and Driving Assistant on your 3er. Other less futuristic features will also be available such as the Comfort Access System, hands-free tailgate operation, parking sensors and anti-dazzle mirrors and so on.

The big news is that the company claims that all of these optional features cost AUD6,000 combined but they are offering all of them for free. Prices for the 3 Series start at AUD52,800 in Australia, for the 316i model.
