2014 BMW X1 Gets New Stock Equipment in Australia

For 2014 (or what’s left of it), BMW decided to give the X1 a bit more kit for the money but only in Australia, apparently. The Bimmerheads in the land below can now enjoy more luxury for the same price.

The most important change was the gearbox, as the ZF 8-speed unit became standard with no price increase whatsoever, the X1 still starting at AUD46,300 for the sDrive18d model and AUD48,300 for the sDrive20i.

Newly introduced standard features include anti-dazzle rear-view mirror, lighting package with reading lights and illuminated exterior door handles, vanity mirrors and luggage compartment. Smartphone integration was further extended, now including Bluetooth audio streaming, album cover display, multiple device pairing and provision for a snap-in adaptor.

For higher spec models like the xDrive28i you also get shift paddles, parking sensors and rear-view cameras. Package prices were also revised and are now cheaper.

The Visibility Package, for example, is now AUD1,500, AUD100 less than before and includes adaptive bi-xenon lights and high-beam assist. The Parking Package is also cheaper by AUD150 (down to AUD850) and available on sDrive variants.

BMW Australia claims that the plus value of all the extra kit adds up to AUD4,400 on all four models.
