BMW and MINI Split in New York

Having decided to expand the range of models it offers and subsequently the reach of the brand, MINI is now announcing moves that would change its public image. Starting in the US, the MINI dealerships will go in renovation mode this year, starting with the stores in New York City. And some changes will be seen at local BMW dealerships as well.

According to BMW, who is getting ready to attend the New York International Auto Show, the renovation of the dealerships in New York are also meant to accommodate the future line of i vehicles, that will be launched in the years to come.

BMW will continue to conduct its regular business from the 555 W. 57th Street location, but will also get a role as sales hub for the i3 and i8 models that will be launched in the country in 2013. As a result, MINI will set up its own shop in Manhattan in the Chapman Building at 11th Avenue and 56th Street.

To get the locations is shape for the launches of 2013, BMW has set the completion date of the renovation at the end of next year, while the MINI dealership should be ready by the end of the current one.

“New York is an important market for BMW, and as America’s foremost megacity, it’s a great incubator to develop vehicles, facilities and services for a sustainable mobility future,” said Peter Miles, executive vice president of Operations BMW NA.

“This renovation and new construction represents more than just a fiscal investment and also underscores the BMW Group’s commitment in America and in New York City."
