BMW 5 Series GT for Independent Collectors

We were announcing you a couple of months back about BMW becoming the first global partner of Independent Collectors, an online platform which connects collectors of contemporary art.

The German manufacturer is currently supporting the “Art Expedition Berlin,” a series of short videos, featuring a collector of contemporary art and an artist who present to each other some of their favorite art locations.

Berlin-based collector Albrecht Kastein and British artist Jonathan Monk are the first ones to be involved in the project, trying to keep the online audience interested as much as they can, both showing to each other locations with a strong meaning to them within the city they live in, such as Galerie Capitain Petzel, Barbara Wien’s bookstore and gallery, KunstWerke and the Kupferstichkabinett.

The two were provided with the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo to help them commute from one location to another, while also discussing about art and collecting. The full six-minutes “Art Expedition Berlin” video can be watched here.

BMW launched the 5 Series Gran Turismo in May 2009 during an exclusive invitation only party. The BMW 5 Series GT is an upper middle class crossover between three concepts, a spacious sedan, an SUV and a large coupe. The 5 Series GT is available various configurations of the engine, two petrol and a diesel one, all three complying with the EURO 5 emissions standard.

The two petrol powerplants are fitted with TwinPower Turbochargers and develop around 306 hp and 407 hp. The 5 Series GT also features the newly developed 8-speed automatic gearbox previously available only on the 760i. As expected, the EfficientDynamics suite is also present on the 5 Series GT, improving fuel consumption and the aerodynamic coefficient.
