BMW has been working tirelessly on creating a couple of new front-wheel drive models. Whether that’s going to turn out to be the winning strategy or not, we don’t know but we’re positive that such a move drove some enthusiasts away.
In the meantime, the engineers are bringing out more and more cars to the plate and along the new 2 Series Active Tourer they are also testing a 7-seater version of the same car. So if you thought that the original was bad, wait till you see what’s in store.

The 7-seater rendered here is supposed to fill a super small niche that nobody knew it actually existed. However, since the Active Tourer was designed in the first place to appeal to young families and, let’s be honest, soccer moms, expanding the room inside does make sense from a practical point of view.

The main question is: how much more room will be included? Our spyshots didn’t show a huge difference between the regular model and the one that offers two extra seats, which led us to believe that BMW might have a similar approach here as it did in the case of the new X5. That’s right! In case you didn’t know, the F15 model can be fitted with two extra seats in the back as well.

However, they are definitely not suitable for adults. I’d even go as far as to say that even some children might have problems getting in and sitting back there. The 2er is already smaller in size so we reckon that extra space will be almost unnoticeable.

Even so, the car will sell and it will sell mostly to people new to the brand, just like its brother. The 5-seat model that is currently on sale has been bought mostly by people new to the BMW badge (75 percent of them) and things are expected to keep the same momentum once this model comes out sometime later this year.
