The 1977 Jeep CJ-5 we have here has left its factory form far behind and is now trying to do the same with competitors at the drag strip. However, the most important race the contraption is engaged in is the one against itself.
Last week, we saw the short-wheelbase monster pulling an 11.4-second quarter-mile run while battling an S550 Ford Mustang GT that had also been taken down the aftermarket path. Meanwhile, Baltic Supra Racing, the YouTube label behind the adventure, went back to the drag strip while upping the ante on the nitrous front (a 150 shot replaced the precious 100 unit) in an attempt to enter the 10s arena.

North of the firewall, we find a Chevy 350-ci (5.7-liter) V8 that delivers 260 ponies at the rear wheels, with a dyno run having proven that using the previous nitrous setup, the number reached 370 whp or around 430 horses at the crank. And, to put that to good use, the motor is mated to a three-speed automatic, which sends the power to the prepped surface of the track via rear tires that are 33 inches tall and 22 inches wide.

Sure, there are much more muscular machines out there, but with this CJ-5 only tipping the scales at over 2,500 lbs (1,130 kg), it can give them a run for their money.

In its journey to Ten Second Land, the Jeep came across a C7 incarnation of the Corvette Z06, which sported a manual. Nevertheless, the Chevy had also been modded, going from its official quarter-mile numbers of 11.2s at 127 mph (204 kph) to 10.8s at 135 mph (217 kph).

To recap, we've got a Jeep that was picked off Craigslist, having been hooned since its acquisition last Christmas and a heftier does of nitrous - what could go wrong?

Well, the answer came after the battle against the 'Vette, with the latter awaiting you at the 9:55 point of the clip below. Nevertheless, we might just see the hilariously quick once-an-offroader returning in even meaner form...
