Bentley 61th Annual Race Meeting to Be Held in August

On July 23rd 1949 the first Bentley Drivers Club (BDC) race meeting was held at the Silverstone circuit in UK. The tradition has been maintained for 60 years now, and 2010 will be the 61th, as the BDC annual race meeting will be held on August 7, at Silverstone.

This year will also see participants celebrating the Bentley Mulsanne’s 30th anniversary.

We hope to illustrate the full 30-year heritage of the Bentley Mulsanne at Silverstone on 7th August,” said Sebastian Welch, Competitions Captain of the BDC, “from the earliest models of Mulsanne produced in 1980, through to the brand-new 2010 Mulsanne being built at Crewe – a breathtaking, modern-day flagship for the marque,”

As in the previous year, a huge variety of Bentley models will be present at the event. These will compete against other marques on the track. The meeting is scheduled to include a total of 10 races, among which we can name a round of the Thoroughbred Sports Car Championship and of the Morgan Challenge Race Series, while the Allcomers’ race attracts not only Bentleys but Aston Martins and Jaguars, through to the Ginetta G4 and the Kurtis 500S.

One of the most interesting parts of the meeting will be the Bentley Handicap race, which starts in the pit lane and the Bentley Scratch race, where cars of all ages compete against each other.

For those who just like to pose, the Bentley Parade is available: here, owners can drive a couple of laps around the circuit at a gentle pace.
