If you're in for a great-looking helmet, offered in a limited edition and sporting the insignia of a great motorcycle rider, then the Kurt Caselli Bell Moto-9 lid is the hottest thing this autumn. As you've probably figured out, the limited-run helmet honors the fallen rider and this also makes it a coveted collector's item.
We remind you that Kurt Caselli sadly passed away almost two years ago, while racing in the Baja 1000 Rally. He crashed into an animal and was fatally injured. Caselli was 30 and was already regarded as one of the new rising stars of the Dakar Rally.
He had just signed a 3-year contract as a factory rider for KTM, after replacing Marc Coma in the 2013 Dakar. Coma was recovering from earlier injuries and Caselli substituted for him, even managing to win a stage.
After Caselli's death, his family created the Kurt Caselli Foundation with massive support from friends, fellow-riders, racing teams and manufacturers, with the goal of trying to make racing and race courses safer.
Bell used their Tri-Matrix composite shell for the Caselli commemorative helmet, as well as the company's Velocity Flow Ventilation system to keep temperature and moisture under control. Only 200 such helmets are available, and customers can only purchase them online starting with the 1st of October. All proceeds from selling the 200 units will go to the Caselli Foundation.
The Caselli commemorative helmet comes with Snell M2015 and DOT certification and will be offered in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, and XXL, for $449.95 (€400).

The Bell Moto-9 helmet is a race-ready item, not only a collector's one
The graphics of the Bell Kurt Caselli helmet have been created by Tagger Designs, and include the 66 racing number shield. The text around the shield reads "Do one thing everyday that scares you. Be remembered as a person not a racer" and this sums Kurt's approach to people.Bell used their Tri-Matrix composite shell for the Caselli commemorative helmet, as well as the company's Velocity Flow Ventilation system to keep temperature and moisture under control.
