AVUS Performance Audi A4 Avant Black Arrow Released

Audi's models are often the subject of tuning houses who are making them more powerful and, sometimes, more appealing by adding a wide array of technical and styling enhancements. This is the case of Audi A4 Avant which got customized by the guys over at AVUS Performance with lots of features, resulting the so-called "Black Arrow".

Specifically, the new model is powered by the same factory-fitted 2.7-liter TDI engine mated to an 8-speed multitronic transmission but with power outputs improved from the standard figures.

For example, the stage 1 ECU upgrade boosts the maximum power of the A4 from 190bhp and 295 lb/ft of torque up to 230bhp and 358 lb/ft. The manufacturer hasn't mentioned but stage 2 and maybe stage 3 will probably boost the maximum power even more. It did however reveal that upgrades for the 3.0-liter TDI powerplant are also available.

Outside, the car is featuring several improvements, such as 21-inch gloss black rims and coilovers, LED taillights and lowering springs. 19- or 20-inch wheels are also available.

Audi rolled out the fourth generation A4 at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show but the avant version came only a half year later at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The new model featured a longer wheelbase than its previous generation Avant (117 mm) - as well as lightweight steel components - and was fitted with plenty of new technological features: MMI system, Servotronic steering or electronic park brake. The car shares its base with he new Audi A5 Coupe (Audi Modular Longitudinal Platform), a feature that attracted positive comments regarding stability and weight distribution.
