Have you ever noticed how we and most of the other publications out there rarely mention a supercar’s economy figures? That’s because it very difficult to expect the claimed figures when cars like the Aventador or Mercedes SLS are about as thirsty as an army tank.
Just because we believe people with the money to buy a supercar can also afford to fill it up, doesn’t mean that they will. This can sometimes be a deal-breaker when it comes to a sale, and Lamborghini is finally doing something about this. Something strange!
For next year’s Aventador, they will introduce cylinder deactivation, which cuts six of them when they’re not needed. This system, which is also fitted to the Mercedes SLK55 AMG, will be standard on the Aventador and will be paired to engine start/stop technology.
With this system, the Aventador will reportedly do 16 l/100km or 14.7 mpg US on the combined cycle.
