German carmaker BMW announced it will enhance the EfficientDynamics technologies fitted into the Australian version of the Z4 roadster with the addition of several new technologies across the range.
The biggest chance is the introduction of the Brake Energy Regeneration, to be fitted into the entire Z4 range. The roadster will thus join the existing brake regeneration capable vehicles from BMW: 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series and X3 vehicles.
For several models, BMW will also provide specific enhancements. The Z4 sDrive23i for instance will from now on feature low rolling resistance tires.
All these new enhancements will add to the existing EfficientDynamics features, such as electric power steering, optimum shift indicator and high precision injection twin turbo engine.
"BMW is committed to improving the efficiency of all of its cars, not just a few less powerful small cars," Stavros Yallouridis, BMW Group Australia said in a release.
“Just recently we announced fuel consumption improvements to the 6 Series Coupé and Convertible models and we’re delighted to do the same with the Z4 Roadster."
“There’s no reason why sports car drivers can’t meet their sporting and lifestyle needs whilst emitting fewer emissions and using less fuel."
“Without improvements like these across the entire range, BMW would not be the acknowledged leader when it comes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions,” he says.
The new, improved Z4 will begin to be delivered in Australia this month. The German carmaker did not disclosed the updated prices, but expect them to be a notch higher than now.
