BMW Wins Two Scottish Car of the Year Awards

BMW has reasons to celebrate, as the German auto builder won two categories of the Scottish Car of the Year Awards 2009. The jury was formed by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW). In the competition, the Z4 got the Scottish Drop Top of the Year 2009 award, whilst BMW has been crowned the winner in the Eco category for its EfficientDynamics program.

The Z4 boasts a fine pedigree of high performance and thrills which few can match. Matched with brilliant build quality and a slick folding roof mechanism this is the ultimate Scottish driving machine,” said Bill Caven, President of the ASMW.

Different manufacturers have created different solutions to provide cleaner more efficient motoring, but BMW with its EfficientDynamics programmes have certainly provided a breath of fresh air in making us more aware of what clean should mean,” added Caven about the program which was first introduced in 2007.

The prize was accepted by, Tim Abbott, Managing Director of BMW Group UK, who said: “The Z4 has enjoyed high praise since its launch back in May and this award recognises its technical prowess and cements its position as one of the best roadsters on the market. Like all our cars, the Z4 has a number of EfficientDynamic features which help it deliver outstanding fuel economy and CO2 figures – particularly considering the performance it delivers. It is great to receive such recognition within the industry for EfficientDynamics as this programme is so closely aligned with BMW’s core values.
