Being part of the VW group, which is preparing the ultra-efficient XL1 for production, Audi will reportedly launch its own variation of the theme, in the form of a small city car, based on the A1. Audi says that the car will be good for a fuel consumption figure of 282 mpg, which exactly equates to 1 l/100km!
The car is known internally as the ‘1.0-liter car’, according to autocar.co.uk, yet not a lot is known about the project. Aside from it sharing its underpinnings with the A1, and the fact that it will have room inside for four people, the only other thing we really know thus far is that it won`t be using the same engine as the XL1.

The car could use some carbon fiber parts, made by a process of injection-moulding, which greatly reduces the time and cost associated with the ultra-strong material. Expect to see the car in showrooms within the next three years.
