We are currently looking at what could be the last special edition before Audi switches to the new headlights and grille on the R8. The edition in question is the R8 China Edition, of which only 80 will be built.
Looking at that gear stick/selector, you could be inclined to call us idiots because they are building 99 cars. But in fact, that’s not true. Every number with a four in it is being skipped. However, there’s only ten of them from 1 to 99, so there should be fewer than 99... no, we haven’t figured it out either.
Numbers aside, the special edition is based on the R8 V10, meaning it’s offered in China with a 5.2-liter FSI engine that develops 518 PS and 530Nm (391 lb-ft). But the body of the edition actually features bits and peaces stolen from the R8 GT limited edition, including the bumper, winglets, wheels, rear wing and carbon fiber mirrors.
