Audi has just revealed the all-new S3, ahead of its official public debut at the Paris Motor Show, later this month. As we have come to expect from the Ingolstadt automaker, the differences between this and lesser A3s are minimal - front and rear bumpers, new grille and headlights.
Power-wise, it gets 296 hp and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) from an advanced all-new turbocharged 2.0-liter egnine, with direct injection. Power is sent to all four wheels via either a six-speed manual or a six-speed double-clutch S-Tronic gearbox. With the latter equipped, the S3 can sprint from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 5.1 seconds, or 5.4 seconds for the manual version. It can also reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Audi claims that with the self-shifting gearbox equipped, it only uses 6.9 l/100 km (41 UK mpg), and the manual gets a marginally poorer result, though we’d still opt for the manual in this particular car. This new S3 needs to be very good, in order to compete with cars like the BMW M135i, or the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, both of which are cars it should be very weary of.

autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
