To somebody outside the car realm, the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Aventador have nothing in common. Then again, with both coming from the Volkswagen Group, these mid-engined beasts do share a few components, such as the steering wheel. However, we're not here to talk about their common parts, as we want to discuss the distance between them instead.
We mean this in a literal sense, as an Audi R8 V10 Plus and a Lamborghini Aventador S recently engaged in a drag race. Sure, the stock incarnation of the Ingolstadt supercar, which packs 610 hp, doesn't stand a chance against the 740 hp Raging Bull. But the Audi we have here comes in massaged form.
And while we're not aware of the mods fitted to the 5.2-liter V10 of the R8, we can tell you this allows the machine around it to give the Sant'Agata Bolognese toy a headache.
Interestingly, none of the drivers seems to have turned to the Launch Control feature - make sure to turn up the volume before heading for the "play: button below and you'll notice the silence before the takeoff.
It's worth noting that the two mid-engined beasts got together on an airfield in Germany. The velocity gathering involved more machines, as you'll be able to notice in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page.
Regardless of the go-fast show the two supercars deliver, we have to admit they don't share all that many customers. After all, they belong to totally different financial leagues.
And it's no secret that the crowd magnet effect of the Aventador S is rivaled by few other beasts out there, while the Audi is incredibly restrained for the performance it offers, be it stock or modded.
