Hellcat Drag Races Evo in Brutal Street Fight with a Surprise

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution might be a thing of the past as far as the Japanese automotive producer is concerned, but the Evo still has a place in the heart of aficionados. And we're not just talking bar chats, as the rally-bred toy continues to deliver giggles.

For instance, earlier today we showed you an Evo IX giving a 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS a hard time on the Nurburgring. And we'll remind you that the Rennsport Neunelfer is a machine that can blitz the infamous German track in 6:56.

When it comes to the adventure we have here, this sees what apepars to be an Evo VIII taking part in a wild street racing night. As you can easily imagine, this Evolution made full use of its blast-like all-wheel-drive start.

Then again, the sedan needed all the help it could get, since it battles monsters like the Dodge Charger Hellcat. Sure, the American super-sedan might pack double the output of an Evo, but its 275-section rear tires mean putting the power down during the initial stage of the race isn't all that easy.

Oh, and in case you're wondering about any potential mods, you should know things are limited. According to their drivers, the Mopar machine packs a cold air intake, while the Evolution comes with a similar goodie and an open downpipe.

The two beasts weren't the only ones engaging in street brawls on the night this footage was captured. In fact, the group of racers also included a third-generation Cadillac CTS-V, which came in factory stock form - this served as a camera car during the race between the Hellcat and the Evo, while also fully engaging in the battle.

And we'll let the piece of footage below bring you the complete lineup. However, before inviting you to reach for the "play" button, we'll remind you not to use this clip as an example and hit the drag strip when the hooning urges kick in.
