The 2018 BMW M5 might still have a fresh feeling, but this doesn't mean the aftermarket side of the industry will leave the uber-sedan in factory form. And we're here to show you an example of the F90 that has received a bit of tuning attention, with the speed behemoth being put to drag racing work.
Since the current incarnation of the M5 is animated by a massaged version of its predecessor's twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, aftermarket specialist had the way partially paved. As for the motor of the example we have here, this has been gifted with a Remus exhaust and an ECU remap.

And while the said details might not sound like all that much, you should know that the unit was pushed from 600 to 750 horsepower. Having completed its gym visit, the Bimmer attended a drag racing event, one that saw it battling all sorts of machines on an airfield in Germany.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page shows the four-door in action and we've chosen to focus on a race that involves a Porsche 911 Turbo S. Since this is a member of the 991.2 generation, the supercar packs at least 580 ponies.

Note that the races involve rolling one-kilometer runs and, sadly, not too many trap speed values (these determine the winner) are caught on camera.

All this F90 M5 talk might have wet your appetite for the current generation of the super-sedan. And if that happens to be the case, we'll remind you that we recently brought the 2019 M5 Competition under the spotlights.

The 625 horsepower M car duked it out with a pretty unlikely adversary, namely a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. And while the name of the muscle car might make you expect a drag race-only battle, this is far from the truth. And that's because the comparo we're referring to also saw the two V8 toys fighting in terms of lap times and (drum rolls) drifting.
