Audi R8 GT Spyder Is a Truly Epic Convertible

Audi has just launched a new presentation video for the fastest convertible they’ve ever made. The video follows after the official public release of the roofless sports car at Le Mans 2011, and show the car’s on road and on track performance.
Only 333 R8 GT Spyder models will ever be made, each powered by the same V10 engine that powers the GT Coupe. This provides 560 horsepower, which is 35 more than the regular V10 Spyder. The supercar is also full 85 kilograms (187.39 lb) slimmer than the already toned regular version, thanks in part to the extensive use of CFRP.

The video covers this fact extensively, but somehow the German engineers managed to sneak in a few boring facts in there as well. How about this: the brake calipers are not covered in enamel, but are instead anodized, which saves weight. We really didn’t want to know that, but what we do want to know is that the car accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 317 km/h (196.97 mph).
