Before the Audi R8 came along, you had little choice of you wanted a mid-engined sportscar other that the Porsche 911. We think that the R8 is probably the car that had the biggest impact on how we view Audi in the modern age... positive impact that is.
The 4.2-liter engine in the normal car might not be a mountain of power, it’s still good fun in combination with a snappy manual gearbox. As for the styling, yes the front end looks a bit strange, but you can’t ignore a car with side-blades when it’s cruising Saint Tropez, all white and clean. As for the roadster - what a soundtrack!
Really, we have a lot to be thankful for with the R8. But autoevolution has been feverishly churning the rumor mill and we though a facelift would be here, bringing slight power increases and a double-clutch gearbox.
