Prices for the new version of Audi’s Q7 premium full-size SUV have been announced, and the Ingolstadt SUV seems to offer quite an appealing proposition.
Nobody’s contesting the technological advancements and the finish quality of the new Audi Q7 - no, the only thing that raised some question marks was its exterior design. The 2017 Q7 introduces Audi’s new SUV design language and... let’s just say the reactions have been mixed.

On the other hand, the previous Q7 wasn’t exactly considered beauty pageant material in some corners of the world either, but that didn’t stop it from selling nicely and spawning an entire range of smaller Audi SUVs. Speaking of which, they too are in line to go through this transformation shortly.

Whether you like the outside of the new Q7 or not, you’ll love the car once you get to sit inside and drive it. The SUV is also heralding the new interior design language, and here there’s nothing to debate on: the Audi comes with the best interior in its class by far. A random example is the 19-speaker Bose 3D Sound System, which isn’t even the top of the line offering - that would be the 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen system, which promises an “impressive, life-like musical experience” through its 1,920 watts.

In the US, the new Audi Q7 is offered with a single engine option: the 3.0-liter TFSI V6 delivering 333 hp and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) from as low as 2,900 rpm. The Q7 3.0T quattro model comes equipped as standard with the eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and, as the name suggests, the proprietary quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The good news is it uses the same lightweight construction principle as the A8, which helped it shed off 475 pounds compared to the previous model. That means the - let’s face it - large SUV can accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in just 6.1 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). The official mixed fuel consumption number is 30.5 mpg (7.7 l/100 km), but we all know we need a steady supply of salt to take these with.

In terms of comfort (but also dynamics), the new 2017 Q7 comes with the Audi adaptive air suspension (optional) which enables the SUV to shuffle through various damping settings while also lifting or lowering the car. There’s also the possibility to opt for a four-wheel-steering system that increases stability at higher speeds and enhances handling through city traffic.

The new Audi Q7 comes with your regular endless list of safety and connectivity features - you can check them out in the press release below - and also a host of interior amenities aimed at offering the best experience for everyone on board - which, thanks to a third row of seats, can mean up to seven people.

Depending on the model, the 2017 Audi Q7 can cost from $54,800 (Premium) to $64,300 (Prestige), with the $58,800 Premium Plus version in the middle. These are all starting prices recommended by the manufacturer and may vary from dealer to dealer.
