Walter de Silva, head of VW Group design, confirmed the fact that Audi will release such a model, which will slot “in between the Q7 and Q5.” Basic maths will tell you that there is only one integer between those two numbers, so we’re waiting on the Audi Q6.
And given how the market for coupe-shaped crossovers is evolving and growing, this will be a direct rival for the BMW X6. Test mules of crossover have already been spotted, riding on elongated Q5 platforms.
The longer wheelbase will give a better ride, because the added length is created from the wheelbase. We’ve seen designers dream up Q6 renderings in the past, but the latest puts a more rugged spin.
The Q6 is big on pantomime, offering a sloping roofline and stylized taillights. However, if you’re not an Audi fan, don’t expect to be blown over by this model.
The Q6 coupe crossover is coming in 2016, one year later than Mercedes Benz’s answer, which will arrive in 2015.
