One day after German manufacturer Audi announced in a very covert manner that the new Q3 model will be presented for the first time next week, during the Shanghai Auto Show, the first official renderings of the crossover have been leaked onto the web.

Promising to bring Audi a piece of the ever growing pie currently occupied mostly by the BMW X1, the compact crossover will at first be launched on the Chinese market (hence the unveiling at a Chinese auto show) , and will later enter other markets across the world.

The details surrounding to model are still being kept a secret, but some pieces of information have been around for quite some time now, roughly right from when the automaker confirmed that the model will be built at the Seat production facility in Martorell near Barcelona.

The Q3 will use a range of engines that will give it power outputs that range, in general, from 140 to 200 horsepower. According to autoblog.it at the moment of launch, the crossover will be offered with only two petrol engines, both 2.0l TFSI units. The smaller unit, paired to a manual transmission, will develop 170 horsepower, while the more powerful one will spit out 211 horsepower, controlled via an S-tronic transmission.

The diesel offering from the get go will include only one TDI unit, good for 170 horsepower and linked to an S-tronic gearbox. At a later date, three other engines will be offered, a petrol one and an additional two diesels.

More details about the model will be announced next week.
