Audi Launches New Mobile Portal for Cell Phones

German carmaker Audi decided it was time to expand its web presence by launching a new mobile portal that can be reached by users via any Internet-capable cell phone on http://m.audi.de. Aside from getting extensive information about the brand, users will also find a series of gadgets and games.

Not only the German homepage of the brand with the four rings has more than two million visitors per month, but the mobile Internet also recorded an unprecedented boom last year. Audi says that one out of every 10 Internet users in Germany currently uses their cell phone to go online.

According to Bettina Rühle, Project Manager for the mobile site, the German website is serving as a prototype of sorts in this case. “During the course of the year, we will internationalize the website and begin offering our mobile portal in other countries as well,” she said.

The new mobile portal features a highly user-friendly interface that allows the Smartphone user access detailed information about all Audi car models and the entire range of available engines with just a few clicks. “The mobile website is a long-term commitment for us, and it will be continuously expanded with new content,” said Lothar Korn, Head of Marketing Communications at Audi.

One of the portal’s many attractive applications is the mobile version of Audi tv, the brand’s Internet television channel already accessed by 250,000 viewers each month. Moreover, via the application “Audi Experience”, portal users can play the new “Audi A1 Beat Driver” game, which can be downloaded as an iPhone app.

There is also the “Audi glossary” that explains all of the technical jargon used to talk about Audi car models, the “Calendar of events” feature, a “Dealership search” and a “Model finder.”
