Audi Gets Ready for FIS Ski World Cup

German manufacturer Audi, one of the car makers with a soft spot for all types of sports, not necessarily related with the automotive industry, is currently gearing up for one of the first big events of next year.

The event, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, will start in the second day of next year, with the organizers promising the race will be one of the most spectacular races ever to be seen in the competition.

The Olympia hill in Munich will be the gathering place for athletes like Felix Neureuther, winner of the Ganslernhang in Kitzbuhel and the World Championships at Bormio. The main figures of the Audi motorsports world, Mattias Ekstrom and current Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller will also be on site for the special event.

The two champions will be used by Audi as chauffers for the skiers taking part in the competition. They will both bring the skiers from the finish area to the start house after the athlete presentation in production Audi models.

Aside for the people, the four-ringed brand will also be displaying that which it does best: cars. An off-road park will be set up on the grounds of the Olympia event, showcasing two of the manufacturer's best models, the Audi Q5 and Q7.

The Olympia hill is a 200-meter long slope, which has the starting point at an altitude of 564 meters. The slope, with its entire 33 degrees gradient flooded by lights, will be the arena for the 16 women and men who have signed up. The big prize: 100 World Cup points.
