Mike Rockenfeller has become the new Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters champion last weekend, after driving his Sport Team Phoenix Audi to a second place finish at Zandvoort.
With 142 points to his name and only one race left this season, at Germany’s Hockenheim track, Rockenfeller has already won the DTM Drivers’ Championship ahead of BMW’s Augusto Farfus. despite the Brazilian winning the last two events.
Moving over to the Team Championship, no less than three teams will battle for the number one spot in the last race. Audi Sport Team Phoenix leads the pack with 151 points, BMW Team RBM is second with 148, while STIHL Mercedes AMG is third with 141 points.
In the Manufacturer’s Championship, Audi and BMW are separated by only eight points (325 vs. 317) and will fight yet another war on the Hockenheim ring. Mercedes-Benz is basically out of the championship race with 239 points.
