Presented to rave critical acclaim in March at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the 2017 Aston Martin DB11 started production only recently. From March to date, the automaker received no less than 3,000 orders for its twin-turbo V12-powered bruiser.
Of course, all 3,000 units spoken for to date will be assembled in Gaydon, Warwickshire. Despite the uncanny resemblance to a run-of-the-mill production line, Aston Martin is adamant that the DB11s “will all be hand-built” at the British brand’s facility.
The first of seven new models Aston Martin will launch in the coming seven years is a thoroughbred grand tourer. In the U.S., pricing starts from $211,995, which is a little more than the old DB9 in base specification ($198,250). In the near future, Aston Martin will extend the DB11 lineup with an AMG V8-powered model and a cabriolet. A Vanquish is also on the cards.
Specifications for the DB11 are just as impressive as the styling is. The 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12, for example, churns out 608 PS (600 horsepower) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. That’s 3.9 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph), which is mighty fast for a plush grand tourer that weighs 1,770 kilograms (3,902 pounds) or thereabout.
More impressively, the head honcho of Aston Martin promised to inspect and assure the quality of the first 1,000 DB11s. “It’s an exciting moment for the entire company when the first car of a new model goes into production,” said Dr. Andy Palmer. “The DB11 is a special car and it heralds the start of a new and exciting era for Aston Martin.”

But until the time comes for Aston Martin to take the wraps off a mid-engine supercar, we're looking forward to the next generation of the V8- and V12-powered Vantage sports car.
