Aston Martin Drivers Collect Their Awards

After the hard work and important wins, Aston Martin Racing drivers, Jan Charouz, Tomas Enge and Stefan Mucke celebrated their 2009 racing achievements by receiving two prestigious awards.

Charouz and Mucke went all the way to Le Mans, France on December 5th to collect their 2009 Le Mans Series winning driver trophies at an event held at the famous 24-hour race circuit. Enge, however, was unable to collect his trophy in person as he was competing in a race in the Czech Republic.

But the drivers were not the only ones awarded for their efforts, as Team Principal George Howard-Chappell also received the 2009 Le Mans Series winning teams’ award on behalf of Aston Martin Racing.

Completing the weekend, on December 7th the trio attended the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Annual Awards Luncheon in London. The 007 Aston Martin drivers were honoured to receive the Silverstone-Le Mans Challenge Award for the crew achieving the highest combined results in the Silverstone LMS 1,000 km and the Le Mans 24-Hour races.

The award, which is sponsored by Gulf Oil, is in recognition of the 007 crew’s fourth overall and best petrol car finish in the Le Mans 24-Hours and third in the Le Mans Series season finale at Silverstone.

“2009 has been a fantastic year for the team and especially the drivers of the 007 car who performed consistently well all season. These awards are fitting recognition for the hard work of every member of the team,”
said Team Principal George Howard Chappell.
