Aston Martin Cygnet with V8 Engine? Yes Please!

Putting big engines in the back of small, front-wheel drive cars seems like a bad idea, as the heavy back end and the short wheelbase means your car is likely to swap ends on you. Regardless, there can be no denying the appeal of cars like the Renault 5 Turbo or the Abarth 595 have an almost cult status in the automotive world.

British sportscar maker Aston Martin has no need to put the engine in the back of any of its cars since that would ruin a good thing they have going with their GT-style layout. Oh wait, there’s that little Toyoyta iQ-based luxury city car called the Cygnet. That could definitely use an infusion of craziness.

The guys at Jalopnik say a V8-powered Cygnet using a Vantage powerplant is indeed coming. We could be looking at some sort of insane one-off project car with flared arches, rally tires, air scoops all over and no cover over the engine like Abarths used to have.
