Tesla update 2023.26.1 arrived on customer vehicles on Wednesday, bringing a trove of new features. While this is still a relatively small rollout, some people have already installed it and shared their feedback on social media. The much-hyped Multi-Camera View feature is already harshly criticized as a half-baked feature.
A while back, Tesla software trackers learned about the 2023.26 software update. Back then, it was a very limited release, most probably installed on employees' vehicles. The update was packed with exciting new features, including Charge on Solar, Multi-Camera View, and the ability to use Bluetooth game controllers to play games. The changes were so significant that Tesla felt the need to include a new section in the release notes, dubbed "Other Updates."

The Multi-Camera View was one of the most requested features, considering that most other carmakers offer a 360-degree view (sometimes called Bird's Eye View) feature. Based on the description in the release notes, the new feature allows owners to view multiple camera streams simultaneously in their Tesla app when using Live Sentry mode. More specifically, you could see front, rear, and side repeater cameras on the same screen.

A little over two weeks later, the update got to the first customer vehicles as the 2023.26.1 update. As more people got the update, we've been treated to the first pictures showing the new features in real life. Some of them got people excited, although not everything was appreciated. The culprit here is the Multi-Camera View, which looks awful. The images are not stitched together as people expected, but they are at least on the same screen, so you don't have to check them one by one.

In February, we learned that Tesla patented new features for the Vision, using machine learning and Occupancy Network to provide a bird's eye view image of the car's surroundings. Everyone thought this was it when the 2023.26 update was announced with Multi-Camera View. Still, the current implementation is utterly disappointing, as people expected better from Tesla. Other carmakers include this feature even on cheaper models, so Tesla has no excuse for this.

On the plus side, as some observed, the Spotify app finally looks like Spotify. While the fresh looks were highly appreciated, people wanted the app to be more functional. Currently, the Spotify app on Tesla vehicles is severely limited compared to the mobile app on iOS and Android. Users reported issues with very long playlists, including the inability to sort songs based on different criteria. It's unclear whether this is a native app or just another web app, similar to how Apple Music was implemented.

The new update also comes with a new game called Vampire Survivors, which people say it's very addictive. Thanks to the new capability introduced with this update, the game can be played using a PS5 controller or any other Bluetooth device. Tesla also added a blue dot to the apps, indicating they have been updated or are new. For other features, read our previous article about the 2023.26 update.
