Aretha Franklin Sang Her Way Out of a Parking Ticket in New York

Being Famous has its benefits sometimes especially when you are a world famous Soul star, and not to mention when you can use that privilege when making your way out of a parking ticket. The lucky driver who we are talking about is none other than Aretha Franklin.

The “Queen of Soul” as she is known has won 20 Grammys, of which 2 were honorary awards. She managed to release 45 Top 40 hits on the Billboard “Hot 100” over the past 50 years. This glorious background was nothing compared to what the Queen of Soul managed to pull of this week in New York City. The singer managed to pull off what most drivers hope they could when being stopped by the Police.

Ms. Franklin walked away from a parking ticked in Manhattan by talking her way out of the situation. For daily New York drivers this is a remarkable accomplishment due to the New York’s parking enforcement employees who are totally indifferent to celebrities or other personal cases. This is where the belief comes from that they would ticket their own mother if they would be given the opportunity.

The event happened on Monday night, in front of Neely’s Barbeque Parlor on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. While the “Queen of Soul” was having dinner, she spotted the parking agent who circled the singers car. The next minute she rushed at the car approaching the “ticked man” demanding respect and she got it, trading a signed envelope for understanding.
