APS Sportec Shows SPR1R Supercar

The Swiss team at APS Sportec recently revealed the improved version of last year’s SPR1 supercar, with the project being dubbed SPR1R. The tuners, however, left the car untouched under the hood, as the SPR1R packs the same 858PS bi-turbo, 3.6-litre, 24-valve, flat six T80M engine and permanent four wheel drive from the previous version.

The guys also kept other specs such as the titanium connecting rods, a flat carbon fibre under floor, active suspension and F1 style ceramic brake discs of other SPR1 models, the composite (carbon / Kevlar) body panels, forged alloy wheels, an integrated safety cage and ceramic brake discs.

And this is where the interesting part starts, as we are about to tell you the improvements made by Sportec. The weight has been
reduced by 50 kilograms, to a total of 1295 kilos, which makes it one of the lightest supercars on the market. This also enhances the SPR1R’s power to weight ratio to a staggering 655 bhp per ton.

Other tweaks include a driver adjustable traction control system, managed via a touch screen mounted in the centre console. This also serves as a vehicle data logger and lap timer that allows the driver to monitor key engine data in real time.

Styling improvements are limited to 20 inch forged alloy wheels, a carbon fibre rear wing and leather / alcantara interior.

However, the vehicle’s performances have slightly changed, with the SPR1R leaving the 186 mph (300 km/h) mark behind 0.9 seconds quicker than before. The 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time stays at 3.0 seconds, as does the 236 mph (380 km/h) top speed.
