Amazon, as I’m sure you know, is much more than just an outfit that sells e-books for your Kindle. It is, for all intents and purposes, the tech giant who signed Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May for a new car show. Today, however, the big news is that the peeps at Amazon have tied the knot with those at Genesis Motors to create a “heightened luxury experience.”
Introducing Amazon Alexa for Genesis Motors. Put simply, the Alexa skill allows Genesis Motors owners to give remote voice commands to their connected cars. At the present moment, Genesis prides itself on the G90 and G80. If you want to give a task to your vehicle using the Alexa voice service from the comfort of your home, you’ll only need an Alexa-capable device.

Be it the Amazon Echo, Tap, Echo Dot or Fire TV digital media player, the device understands commands such as “Alexa, open Genesis,” “Alexa, tell Genesis to start my car at 70 degrees,” and “Alexa, tell Genesis to start my G90.” Of course, the system can also lock and unlock the vehicle, flash the lights or honk the horn. More commands will be added in the near future.

“We’re excited to bring the convenience of voice and Alexa to the Genesis G80 and G90,”
declared Steve Rabuchin, the vice president of Amazon Alexa. “With this innovative Alexa implementation, customers can now start their car, and get the heat going all just by asking Alexa from the comfort of their own home. We can’t wait for our customers to try it out,” added Rabuchin.

All cars produced by the luxurious arm of the Hyundai Motor Company are equipped with not one, not two, but three years of complimentary Genesis Connected Car Services. On top of that, all Genesis Motors vehicles come with a five-year new-vehicle warranty, a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, and free complimentary services for three years / 36,000 miles.
