The all-new Skoda Octavia has officially entered production at Skoda’s home plant, in Mlada Boleslav, in the Czech Republic. The factory was thoroughly modernized in the production pause between the two models, and its capacity has also been increased.
Cars have already begun rolling off the new production line, on their way to various markets across Europe, as the car is slated to officially go on sale in late January of next year. According to Skoda CEO, Winfired Vahland “The Octavia is the heart of ŠKODA brand [ . . . ] “Our people have employed competence and passion to create the best Octavia ever. This car is a class of its own in every respect. It is a great moment to give the starting shot for the third generation here at our main plant today.”

The all-new Octavia, based on the same VW MQB architecture as the new seventh generation Volkswagen Golf and the all-new SEAT Leon, is larger and less expensive than either of those, and, to our eyes, the most successful in terms of design, and it is currently one of the more handsome models made under the supervision of the VW group.

It will make up an integral part of Skoda’s plan to sell 1.5-million vehicles per year, by 2018, and they have announced that they will be launching a new or revised model every six months, on average. Proof of this are the 3.7-million Octavias manufactured since the first generation of the car was first launched, way back, in 1996.
