Alfa Romeo has launched the upgraded MiTo in the United Kingdom, and the Italian brand needed some flair for the event, so that it can generate extra “buzz.”
Their idea led to MiTo Work of Art, which is an exhibit that was made with the supermini’s D.N.A selector, a masked artist, and filmed with an iPhone 7 Plus. The result can be seen in the embedded video, and in the photo gallery.
Alfa Romeo says that using the iPhone 7 Plus’ dual camera is an industry first, but this is natural since the phone has just been launched on the market. Usually, car commercials are filmed with multiple professional cameras, along with a handful of GoPro action cameras for good measure.
The fact that a phone can shoot just as good as some of the professional devices listed above is impressive in itself. Things get better for potential customers of the iPhone 7 Plus because it does not have an internationally-known affinity for exploding or setting itself on fire, which is a bonus for any device on the consumer market.
The MiTo Work of Art was made using paint in the form of powder and liquid. The first step was driving the Italian supermini in the Dynamic mode, which was employed to blast through the powder circuit. The next step was to drive using the All-Weather mode, which was activated on wet paint.
The same section was also easy for the water-resistant handset from Apple, as was the first part of the course. From what we can see in the "making of" video, the entire thing was filmed by a man on roller skates, while the shots from above were taken with a drone. Both “operators” were using the iPhone 7 Plus.
In the United Kingdom, the Alfa Romeo MiTo starts at 12,960 GBP OTR. The car is offered in four trim levels, and has received multiple enhancements this summer. The updates include new details, more upholstery options, and improved technologies.
