K-5 is one of the latest additions to AGV’s 2015 line-up, a full-face sport-touring helmet manufacturer using AGV Extreme Standards and Finite Elements Analysis (FEM) technologies. This means you’re putting your money down on a top-shelf lid to protect your head, allowing you to ride in better, more comfortable conditions. Still, if you are used to hear about AGV and immediately thinking about Valentino Rossi and big bucks, you’ll be thrilled to learn that getting a K-5 does not require breaking the bank.
The AGV K-5 is available in an almost silly array of graphic options. We stopped counting at 21, so there’s plenty to choose from. The monochrome versions are available in Europe for €299 and considering you’re getting a top-shelf lid, the price is really cool. If you feel like adding some sparkle to your riding, you will need an extra hundred Euros to get Transformer, Diapason, Hurricane, Roadracer, Cube, Deep, or other hot graphics.

Composite glass-carbon shell for light weight and high strength

The outer shell of the all-new AGV K-5 is made from a composite material which incorporates both fiberglass and carbon fiber. The resulting structure is strong and lightweight, yet available for a very competitive price. The FEM technology makes sure that the helmet is really doing what the brochure says it would when the going gets hard. Aerodynamics have been designed with a virtual simulation software environment but tested in a wind tunnel for consistent results.

Buyers have 2 outer shell sizes, while the inner 4-layer EPS shell is available in no less than 4 sizes. All in all the K-5 is available in sizes XS through XXL. GT2 and GT2-1 100% UV resistant visors are available for sizes ML-XXL and XS-MS, respectively. The visor sports the extra quick release system for easy replacement and the lid also incorporates a sun visor.

The Dry-lex sanitized internal liner is completely removable and washable. The vents can be closed, and a removable breath deflector and throat windscreen protection are also in the package. The retention system uses double D-rings, and the K-5 also comes ready for SHARE communication systems. The weight of the MS size is 1,390 grams, which means 3.06 lbs, almost rivaling full-carbon lids, so if you’re out for a new helmet, maybe the K-5 is your thing.
