The E90 328i was one of the best sellers from BMW up until the new F30 model came out, last February. Unlike the current model, the previous one used to have a 3-liter aspirated engine with 231 HP and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque.
However, as we all know not all that power reaches the wheels. Some of it is lost on the way due to the transmission and other mechanical factors. So, in the end, you might expect somewhere around 190 wheel horsepower.
The guys from Active Autowerke did some changes to one E90 328i and managed to get 215 wheel horse power. Unfortunately, we don't know how much torque the engine has but we do know it received a Stage 3 Manifold, Stage 3 Active Autowerke Software, Supersprint Headers and Eisenmann Rear Exhaust.
So, basically, the 25 HP power increase is mostly the end result of the new exhaust system (and a bit of ECU middling). Not bad, considering this way, the engine will be just the same in terms of reliability and life span. You can watch it on a dyno run, in the video below.
