AC Schnitzer can now pride with the fact that it’s built the fastest MINI in the world, with the project using the RAPTOR name and using the MINI JCW Coupe as a starting point.
The AC Schnitzer managed to post a lap time of 1:10.87 on the Hockenheim track during the recent 2012 Tuner Grand Prix held by Sport Auto magazine, beating the previous fastest MINI by 1.11 seconds. The latter also belonged to AC Schnitzer, the Eagle, a pumped-up MINI JCW.

The time was in line with those posted by a Pagani Zonda F and beating the Ferrari 599 GTB and the Porsche 911 GTS.

The 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder was boosted from 211 to 300 hp, using a tweaks that covered the turbo, intercooler, exhaust system (this now uses a racing catalyst), as well as the ECU. In addition to that, AC Schnitzer touched the clutch, introduced a limited slip differential and a lightweight battery, as well as a racing suspension, a multitude of carbon fiber body panels and a roll cage.

AC Schnitzer explains that its RAPTOR is a concept and that that comes with a value of EUR62,000 (USD78,164 at the current exchange rates).
