ABT Tuning Kit for Audi A3

German tuner ABT Sportsline comes back in the spotlight today with yet another modified Audi, this time in the shape of the A3. After presenting us the AS5 Cabrio two weeks ago, today's A3 has, according to the manufacturer, and thanks to all-round upgrades, "an even greater presence."

Engine wise, the AS3, as ABT call it, comes in three factory sourced petrol engines, but each of them with a tuning twist. The 1.4l TSI now develops 160 hp (the production version produces 125 hp). The 1.8l TSI was upgraded from 160 hp to no less than 210 hp, while the bigger 2.0l develops 240 hp, compared to the street version which puts out "only" 200 hp. As for the 2.0l turbo diesel, depending on their factory power output, it now develops in between 170 and 190 hp.

Under the car, ABT provides its house built Performance Springs, which lower the centre of gravity by around 35 millimeters. To bring the A3 to a halt, ABT fitted 345 millimeters braking discs.

For the exterior, ABT has dreamed up all those little add-ons to make the car stand out from the crowd. Modified bonnet, grill, bumpers, fenders and LED light, they are all included in ABT's body kit for the A3. The front spoiler insert, side skirts, fender inserts as well as the rear apron are completed by the ABT 4-pipe exhaust unit.

To finish up the upgrade work, ABT provides wheels-to-match for the A3. Available in either 18 or 19 inch, the BR ABT Sports alloy wheels bring the final touch to the A3.
