Call this a match made in EV heaven: electric vehicle maker Polestar and electric bike maker CAKE, both from Sweden, have joined forces in a new partnership that will ultimately help each brand expand their reach.
The new collaboration was announced last week, with CAKE noting that it will kick off through the inclusion of CAKE bikes in Polestar showrooms across Europe. The two companies’ shared business approaches and goals have paved the way for this partnership, the bike maker explains in a press release.
Among the shared values are Scandinavian design, with a focus on practicality and the protection of the environment, electric powertrains, and a novel approach to marketing, brand and retail. The two companies will also be collaborating on events and customer integration programs, with the goal of introducing CAKE riders to Polestars vehicles, and the other way around.
“Polestar feels a kinship with CAKE, sharing both a belief in redefining performance and a passion for design. Our desire to help create an electrified and emission-free future is a clear bridge between us,” Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath explains.
“The motorcycle industry is undergoing a similar shift towards electrification as the automotive industry. And with respect to those shifts, CAKE is ahead of the curve,” CAKE founder and CEO Stefan Ytterborn adds. “CAKE urges people to explore with respect and speed up the transition towards a zero-emission society. We feel our high-tech bikes, with a beautiful design, inspired people to do exactly that.”
CAKE offers a wide-range of electric bikes, from trail bikes to city and utilitarian bikes, with a variety of specs and motorization options suitable for all types of budgets. CAKE Osa, for example, for utility-oriented riders, comes with only two power and speed options, but is otherwise entirely customizable, depending on the type of work it is needed for.
