I recently spent some time with a few Porsche customers, with one of them being eager to adorn his garage with the 992 GT3. So, when will we get the GT Division animal?
Well, in the Zuffenhausen calendar, 2019 will become the year of the Turbo once the supercar is introduced, a move that's expected to take place this fall. Speaking of which, customer deliveries for the new Porsche 911 Turbo are reportedly confirmed to kick off next April.

As such, the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 should be introduced in 2020, so there's still a bit of waiting to do. Then again, the said time will certainly be worth it, as the newcomer has plenty of tech assets.

For one thing, as you can notice in the brief piece of footage at the bottom of the page, the naturally aspirated engine is here to stay.

The German automaker has recently introduced an all-new atmoshperic 4.0-liter motor for the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder, which is based on the twin-turbo 3.0-liter unit of the 992 Carrera S. So the heart of the next GT3 is expected to be connected to this development, with the output expected to jump from 500 to 550 hp.

Similar prototype sightings have shown Porsche is testing a manual tranny for the eight-generation Porsche 911 GT3, so here's to hoping this once again makes it into the showroom.

And the appearance of test cars without the fixed wing has led to rumors about the return of the Touring Package, even though it's unlikely for this to be offered so early in the model's life cycle.

Other goodies? The serious aero update (check out that rear wing) and the wider tracks of the 992 mean that the new 911 GT3 will probably blitz the Nurburgring in under seven minutes. Interestingly, this stopwatch feat also seems plausible when it comes to the all-new Turbo.
